Leave the bustling city of Hanoi behind and head towards Mai Chau for a picturesque start to the adventure. Pass through a sea of rice fields with tree-lined roads cutting through and enjoy a quick meal in Hoa Binh before traveling across Thung Khe, one of Northern Vietnam's most picturesque mountain passes. Descend to the town of Mai Chau where traditional Thai Xoe dances and socializing with locals await.
Wake up in the fresh mountain air and head to Phu Yen, where Vietnam's best tea and dairy products are produced. Enjoy a lovely winding road to Phu Yen before checking into a simple but comfortable motel for the night.
Embark on the mostly deserted Road 37 into the highlands, passing by acres of terraced rice fields, through several traditional Thai villages and farmland. Experience rural life and observe how the Thai communities live their everyday lives. Wind through rolling hills to the sugar cane growing lands on the cooler Son La plateau. Visit the Son La Former Prison & Museum after lunch to learn about the area's history.
Travel from Son La to Than Uyen through small villages where women sow rice seedlings, children care for buffalos, men pull buffalo, and youngsters walking to school. Kiss goodbye to the movie-like sceneries and embrace the stunning and poetic mountains as you reach the first leg of the extremely lengthy and treacherous Pha Din pass. After lunch at Tuan Giao, continue on winding roads until you arrive in Than Uyen, Lai Chau Province, where you spend the night.
Embark on one of the best motorcycle tours in Vietnam, heading from Than Uyen to Sapa. Pass over Tram Ton - O Quy Ho, one of the longest and most beautiful mountain passes in northern Vietnam, and take in the excitement of the high altitude, the sun, the wind, and the clean air, as well as Hoang Lien's mountains and forests. Arrive at your hotel in Sapa and take in the stunning scenery of Sapa Lake.
Ride on short routes to remote villages in Sapa, which provide a peaceful and pleasant start to the day. Participate in and experience the Hmong, Giay, Tay, and Red Dao markets in the Sapa market, and go to Thac Bac to take in its lyrical, wild, endearing, and majestic beauty. Visit the villages of the indigenous people, immersing yourself in the lush cornfields, terraced rice fields, small homes, and the locals' long-standing traditional way of life.
Embark on a journey from Sapa to Bac Ha, where you explore the Bac Ha Sunday market on weekends. Here, you buy and trade food, livestock, clothes, and household goods, even as you buy some bracelets.
On day 8, we continue our journey from Bac Ha to Ha Giang City. Along the way, we ride through the rugged terrain and breathtaking landscapes of Hoang Su Phi and Xin Man. After a delicious lunch in Ha Giang, we explore the city and soak up its rich cultural heritage.
Day 9 takes us on a spectacular motorbike tour from Ha Giang to Dong Van. Along the way, we ride through narrow and winding mountain roads, passing through numerous vibrant mountain hill tribes. The highlight of the day is Ma Pi Leng Pass, situated between Meo Vac and Dong Van, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
On day 10, we ride through the legendary province of Ha Giang, passing through several small villages and towns. We take a break in Meo Vac and explore its stunning surroundings, including the Vuong Palace, which was built by a local Hmong ethnic leader during the French colonial era. Afterward, we continue to Bao Lac, where we spend the night.
Day 11 takes us on a scenic motorbike tour from Bao Lac to Ba Be Lake. We ride through some of the most beautiful landscapes in northern Vietnam, passing through lush forests, rolling hills, and pristine valleys. We take a break in the scenic town of Tinh Tuc before continuing to Ba Be Lake, where we spend the night.
On Day 12, we ride from Ba Be Lake back to Hanoi, passing through several small towns and villages. We stop for lunch in Thai Nguyen, where we explore its bustling markets and sample some of the local delicacies. Afterward, we continue to Hanoi, where we end our incredible motorbike adventure.
On Day 13, we bid farewell to our fellow riders and depart from Hanoi to continue our journeys. We take with us unforgettable memories of our 13-day Off-Road Vietnam Motorbike Tour, which took us through some of the most spectacular landscapes and cultural experiences in northern Vietnam.
